Caring for Flowers

Flower Care

Caring for your cut flowers ensures they stay fresh and beautiful for as long as possible. Follow these simple tips to extend their vibrancy and enjoy them fully.

Cut the Stems

Before arranging flowers in a vase, trim the stems at an angle using sharp scissors or a floral knife. This enhances water absorption. Keeping bouquets tied can help maintain their shape in the vase.

Remove Submerged Leaves

Strip away any leaves that will sit below the waterline, as submerged foliage can decay and encourage bacteria. Leave only the foliage above the water.

Fill with Fresh Water

Use a clean vase filled with cold tap water, ensuring all stems are submerged. Check that the water level accommodates varying stem lengths.

Refresh the Water Often

Replace the water every two to three days, rinsing the vase thoroughly each time to minimize bacterial buildup.

Choose the Right Spot

Place your flowers in a cool, ventilated location, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and drafts. Excessive warmth or sunlight can cause flowers to fade quickly.

Remove Faded Blooms

Promptly discard any wilting or drooping flowers to maintain the arrangement’s appeal and avoid the spread of ethylene gas, which speeds up deterioration.

Appreciate the Beauty

Take time to admire your flowers, showcasing them in your home or sharing them with others. Proper care ensures they bring joy for days to come.

By following these steps, you can make the most of your flowers and enjoy their charm even longer.
